Purpose of Role To be responsible for the general cleanliness and hygiene of the home To keep a high standard of appearance to contribute to the quality of care and lifestyle of each service user, ensuring privacy and dignity and respect of service users possessions. To carry out the Home's policies, practices and procedures. To follow GSCC Codes of Conduct and Practice for Social Care Workers Duties of a Domestic Cleaner To clean all rooms including furniture, fittings, windows, fabric, carpets and equipment. To clean sanitary and other equipment, with particular attention to guidelines for the control of germs and infection. To deal with waste bags and ensure their correct disposal. To follow safe working procedures and safety regulations, and to remove from use and report to the Manager any item found to be faulty. To ensure the correct and economical use of materials and equipment, and that wastage is kept to a minimum. To assist in carrying out risk assessments, and to ensure all proposals are carried out. To take responsibility for Health & Safety issues, eg. reporting any dangers to self and others, etc. To ensure the correct storage and use of cleaning materials, following COSHH guidelines. To read all relevant communications, sign, and carry out instructions. To adhere to all aspects relating to confidentiality and not discuss the Company, service users, or other information which is acquired via the job, with others not connected to or who have no right to the information. To take part in staff and service users meetings and in training activities as directed, on or off site. To report any situations/concerns immediately to management. To be flexible and work to the benefit of service users, and to assist with any other duties if required. The job description indicates only the main duties and responsibilities of the post.
