Job Purpose: Shrewsbury Town FC is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a sports therapists/physiotherapists to work within the club's Academy department. The primary function of the post is to support the Lead Academy Physiotherapist with injury treatment, injury protocols, EAPs and medical equipment, and to provide pitch side first aid, injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for the whole Academy programme. Main Responsibilities: Ensure Academy players under your care receive appropriate assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. To provide appropriate medical cover is at all training sessions, games, festivals and tournaments which you attend. To provide effective communication strategies to inform relevant staff of the progress of players under your care, in particular the Lead Physiotherapist, Academy Sports Science, the Academy Manager, and the relevant Coaching Staff. To monitor and reflect upon the practices and treatment you provide to ensure continual professional development. To monitor, maintain and update your relevant medical qualifications and registrations. To ensure the appropriate medical equipment is present at all training sessions and games you are covering. To check equipment regularly and ask for training if you are unfamiliar with the equipment. To familiarize yourself with the Emergency Action Plan and to ask for training if you are unfamiliar with the EAP. To communicate with the Lead Physiotherapist, Academy Manager, and Designated Safeguarding officer if there are any safeguarding queries or issues. To attend relevant safeguarding presentations and ensure you are practicing within the outlined safeguarding processes within the club. To ensure all medical records are maintained and updated accordingly and in line with the relevant bodies’ rules and regulations. Medical records are completed on Kitman Labs. To liaise with parents as and when necessary to provide them with the relevant information. To assist with the PDP caseload when required. To liaise with the Club Doctor when necessary. To adhere to club policies with particular emphasis to safeguarding children and equity. To support when required the Academy Screening and Testing program alongside the delivery of rehabilitation programs. About The Candidate Person Specification: 1. Qualifications: Completed BSc Physiotherapy, BSc Sports Therapy or BSc Sports Rehabilitation Registered with the HCPC, CSP, SST, or BASRaT/ appropriate medical body Valid FA ITMMiF qualification (or Equivalent) FA/ FAW Safeguarding certificate (or willingness to complete within 2 weeks of appointment) 2. Personal qualities: Outstanding communication skills. Great organisational skills. Strong IT Skills. Hard working. Committed to developing their skillset and CPD. Enthusiasm for the role. 3. Work-based requirements: Competence in MSK assessments. Excellent knowledge of anatomy and football based injuries. Previous experience working in sports (Desirable). 4. Other requirements: Full, Clean driving licence and access to car. DBS clearance.
