Ash Ward provides inpatient care in a low secure setting. The service provides a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients with a focus on risk assessment and reduction, rehabilitation, and discharge planning for return to the community. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist forensic mental health nursing care and treatment for individuals who have a mental disorder and have demonstrated offending behaviour or who present a significant risk to others. The post holder will be integral to the multi-disciplinary team, providing assessment and treatment to men of working age within a recovery focused service. There is a need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork. Personal and professional development is a requirement of the post and will be supported through both internal and external training opportunities. The post holder will be required to work rotational shifts, including evenings and weekends, and may be required to work in other areas of the Trust to meet service needs. You'll be joining a supportive and friendly team that will make your transition into the ward an enjoyable experience.
Main duties of the job
1. To carry out joint and individual assessments of children and families who are referred.
2. To decide on appropriate course of action with the children and families, and involved professionals.
3. To devise treatment plans with CAMHS professionals and assist them to carry these through.
4. To undertake and support with complexities around risk assessment and risk management planning.
5. Liaise closely with colleagues across a range of care teams to provide timely, accurate, and effective pathways to care, supporting other colleagues in carrying out direct work themselves wherever this is appropriate.
6. Deliver short term evidence-based interventions to children, young people, and families/carers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Core Qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, OT.
* Advanced training in and/or substantial experience in the use of behaviour and or evidence-based interventions with children and families.
* Qualification in CBT / Counselling / Dialectical Behaviour Therapy / behaviour modification / social skills or group therapy.
Experience
* Significant post-qualifying experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
* Previous experience in a CAMH service which preferably includes liaising with and giving advice to referrers and clients at the point of entry to a service.
