As a Trainee Land Consultant, you will play a crucial role in supporting senior consultants with land acquisitions, market research, and site identification. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in land agency & consultancy, helping you develop a broad knowledge in land valuation, negotiation, and the legal aspects of property transactions. You will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining valuable industry insights while assisting in key processes that drive successful land deals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assisting with Land Acquisitions
o Conduct in-depth market research to identify and assess potential land acquisition and disposal opportunities.
o Assist with site appraisals, financial feasibility studies, and due diligence assessments.
o Prepare detailed reports and presentations on land opportunities, including market trends and re-sale research.
o Support the negotiation and transaction process under the guidance of senior consultants.
2. Market Research & Analysis
o Monitor and analyse local and regional planning data.
o Research legal owners to find contact details using specialist methods.
o Assist in reviewing land use possibilities in alignment with planning and development policies.
o Researching and understanding local plans and national framework policies.
3. Building & Managing Relationships
o Develop and maintain strong relationships with landowners, developers, investors, and other key stakeholders.
o Attend networking events, property exhibitions, and industry conferences to expand professional connections.
o Regularly visit target sites to develop an intimate understanding.
o Liaise with local authorities, legal teams, architects and planning consultants to facilitate smooth transactions.
o Gain hands-on experience in land acquisition strategies and consultancy practices.
o Develop an understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks governing land transactions, planning permissions, and environmental considerations.
o Enhance negotiation and deal-making skills to support land transactions effectively.
o Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs to accelerate professional growth.
4. Administrative & Support Tasks
o Provide administrative support to senior consultants, including managing documentation, contracts, and reports.
o Assist in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and client communications.
o Maintain an organised database of potential land opportunities and market research findings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* A keen interest in land acquisition, planning, property development, and real estate consultancy.
* Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and establish credibility.
* Basic understanding of property valuation methods and financial feasibility analysis (desirable but not essential).
* A good understanding of software such as Land Insight or similar (desirable but not essential).
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and property research tools (preferred).
* A degree in real estate, property management, planning, land surveying, business, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
* A proactive and ambitious attitude with a willingness to learn and develop in the role.
This role serves as an entry point into a rewarding career in Land Agency. Successful trainees may progress into positions such as Land Consultant, Senior Land Consultant, or Land Acquisition Manager, with opportunities to specialise in specific sectors such as residential, commercial, or strategic land.
Competitive salary based on experience.
