The Position
A rare opportunity has arisen to work with our well-established central Group Finance team as the newly created fixed-term Finance Assistant. Reporting to the Financial Controller – Central Division, we are seeking a self-motivated team player who thrives in the odyssey of accounting services and who will enjoy providing key support in our shared services teams.
Immersed in all aspects of finance, you will explore the areas of management reporting and GL accounting, which includes accounting, forecasting and reporting for central cost centres, as well as ad hoc support for treasury and tax functions. This means following efficient and effective processes and providing excellent customer service to our key internal and external customers. You will be part of a multinational group and appreciate the diversity that accompanies working in this pivotal team.
About You
Ideally, you will have a background working in a finance department in an organisation that utilises an ERP finance system, such as SAP. Your experience will comprise an understanding of basic accounting, profit and loss and balance sheets and the cherry on the cake will be your experience of treasury topics and preparing VAT returns – but if you haven’t done this, it’s important to still have an understanding of basic tax matters including corporate, VAT and payroll.
You’ll also have excellent knowledge of Microsoft systems (particularly Excel) and it goes without saying that you will have great attention to detail.
This full-time position is 35 hours per week worked between 8:30am and 4:45pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8:30am and 3:30pm Friday (with an hour for lunch).
At Macmillan, we are committed to supporting our teams in their personal and professional development, so if you are qualified in accounting great, or if you are part-way through your accounting qualification we will support the continuation of this study.
We will provide you with hybrid working (currently 3 office days/2 WFH), a competitive salary, and fantastic benefits including Private Medical Insurance/Medical cash plan, enhanced employer pension contributions, employee discounts portal, 25 days holiday (plus statutory holidays), an on-site canteen, employee assistance programme, free parking and much more.
Closing date for applications: 24 February 2025. (It may close earlier if a sufficient candidate pool is met).
