UHB+ Clinical Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, organised, clinically competent NMC/HCPC registered practitioner with at least 2 years post registration and good IT skills to join the UHB+ Clinical Managers team. You would work closely with the clinical operational manager and a team of clinical managers. The post holder will be articulate displaying good communication skills having a varied and up to date portfolio of clinical expertise and experience.
You will be joining a team of experienced nurses to provide high standards of effective and efficient clinical and managerial support for the Trust temporary workforce alongside the team of clinical managers retention team and booking coordinators to ensure UHB Plus bank only staff are appropriately managed to function efficiently in their respective role, to support and facilitate their induction to the trust displaying and upholding Trust values.
Main duties of the job
The post holder would have an integral role in providing a point of professional clinical contact to support the Trust temporary staffing provision across the organisation and will work alongside a team of clinical managers and operational manager to assist the Clinical Operational Manager in achieving a high quality, responsive and committed temporary staffing workforce.
Key responsibilities would include:
1. Acting as the primary point of contact provide an initiative-taking interface between Temporary staffing and clinical managers across the organisation.
2. Deputising for the Clinical Operational manager as and when required contributing to the strategy for temporary staffing provision with key areas of focus being on workforce capacity capability, competence, and standards.

Qualifications Essential
* NMC Registered Nurse, Midwife or HCPC Registered Allied Health Care Professional
* Degree / Equivalent supplemented by diploma or equivalent level post graduate training
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Experience Essential
* Significant post registration experience in an acute hospital setting having relevant and recent clinical experience with responsibility for staff supervision / delegation of duties/ assessment of competence/ capability.
* Broad understanding of a range of roles/ duties and levels of proficiency required by the clinical workforce when undertaking bank/ temporary staffing assignments
* Demonstrable knowledge of regulated activity and how this applies to the clinical workforce including understanding of UK regulators (NMC/HCPC)
* Demonstrable understanding of education / training needs in relation to the range of clinical bank staff
* Knowledge of HR practices/ Managing staff: Sickness absence; performance management plans etc
* Experience in responding to concerns -- preliminary information gathering in response to incidents / concerns raised about staff conduct/ capability.
* Experience in having difficult / challenging conversations about conduct and well-established people management skills.
* Demonstrable knowledge of National Policy / directives associated with temporary staffing within NHSE (bank and agency utilisation)
Desirable
* Previous experience at Band 6 level in an NHS provider organisation in a deputy manager position with responsibility for staff deployment/ supervision / leadership
* Experience in the interview/ selection of staff
* Understanding and experience of participating in / supporting formal / informal investigation process
* Experience of being a mentor

* Able to work effectively with a variety of people to ensure temporary staffing needs are met -- explored -- concerns are addressed, and staff education/ training and development needs are supported where possible to enable effective temporary staffing solutions

* Able to communicate complex and sensitive information to individuals and groups.
* Well-developed influencing and negotiating skills.
* Demonstrate ability to provide clinical leadership skills and recognise limitations to the role and when to refer to others.
* Demonstrate Good verbal communication / negotiating skills to include face to face and telephone
* Ability to deal with conflicting demands.
* Empathy with patients/relatives to record and follow up more complex queries e.g. patient complaints where these relate to bank staff.
* Able to work independently, prioritise and manage own workload.
* Able to use good judgement and decision-making skills, including sound clinical decisions.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and to prioritise important tasks to tight deadlines whilst ensuring quality standards are maintained.
* Tactful and able to build good working relations.
