Overview:
The HIST Board of Trustees is seeking an experienced Clerk to assist the board in carrying out the aims of the Charity as laid down in its governing document. The Clerk is the main communication point for the trust and for the trustees; the ability to maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people is essential. The trust is primarily an almshouse charity operating to alleviate poverty; the Clerk should be sympathetic to those in need and supportive of the aims and values of the trust.
Candidates should be highly organised and able to work independently (with the support of the trustees). The Clerk will:
1. Organise and minute trustee and committee meetings.
2. Manage staff and contractors.
3. Supervise admissions of new residents.
4. Obtain quotations for work and place contracts for services.
5. Submit annual accounts and manage bookkeeping and payments.
6. Provide guidance on policies and procedures.
7. Ensure the efficient running of the almshouses together with the village hall, recreation ground, and other charity property, all under the supervision of the trustees.

Qualifications:
* Proficient in clerical and office tasks.
* Familiar with financial software and online banking.
* Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
* Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
* Educated to at least A level standard and/or higher.
* Ability to prioritise workload to ensure that deadlines are met.
* Experience with property management would be useful.
* Must live within a 10 mile radius of the village of Hallaton and be able to travel to evening meetings which are held on weekdays.
Hours are flexible but attendance at evening meetings is required. The Charity’s office is located in Hallaton but some work may be carried out at home with permission from the trustees.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £18,000.00 per year
