Overall Objective The Trainee Engineered Wood Products Designer will be to work closely with Alsford colleagues and production, working to strict deadlines and keeping in regular touch with customers. The successful applicant must be comfortable working in a busy environment, with the business undertaking all manufacturing and cutting on site. The successful candidate will be required to liaise regularly with production to ensure deadlines are met and the process keeps running smoothly. Main Roles & Responsibilities The Trainee Engineered Wood Products Designer will be expected to learn to perform any of the following tasks: Responsible for completing design work assigned by the design manager / supervisor Preparation of designs and quotations for submission to customers. Preparation of schedules, cutting lists for manufacture. Customer liaison. Planning, setting and prioritizing objectives and reviewing progress to meet personal and organizational goals. Ensure customer service is delivered to a consistently high standard. Reading and interpreting architects plans and sketches Ensure designs are accurate and conforms to standards Aid in training of new employees, when required Must adhere to Health and Safety regulations Any other duties deemed as reasonable within the scope of the job role. Education/Qualifications/Experience: Must have a good level of education e.g. relevant qualifications, City & Guilds, NVQ, and/or equivalent qualification as appropriate for the role.
