Project Architect and new Architect/Architectural Designer roles
North-East Fife
We are looking for talented and motivated people to join our award-winning architecture practice and passivhaus consultancy in Newport on Tay, just outside Dundee, for full or part-time positions in architect and project architect roles.
We work with new builds and retrofits, with projects across Scotland and some internationally. This includes full architectural services, and we provide specialist passivhaus consultancy and training. We are an active member of the friendly UK community of eco and passivhaus designers.
Any new team member must share our enthusiasm for responsible design, with an interest in and/or knowledge of passivhaus and good quality design being essential. Training will be provided where required for Passivhaus.
You will be:
* Project Architect: An architect with a minimum of 3 years experience post ARB registration who can run projects from start to finish and contribute actively to the development of the practice, working with a mentor. Candidates with more experience are also welcomed, with the role tailored to suit experience.
* Architect/Architectural Designer: An architectural designer or part II/III with a minimum of 2 years practice experience, or newly qualified architect keen to gain more in a busy and varied practice. You will be a self-starter and will support the project architects, assisting in the delivery of projects at different stages, including researching and producing technical drawings.
You will also:
* Share our ethos and approach to environmental design.
* Be passionate about passivhaus, eco, and low energy design. Additional qualifications in this area are a bonus, but we will provide training if required.
* Have experience working at all project stages including production information and construction (extent of experience will depend on which role you are applying for).
* Have a good working knowledge of planning and building regulations.
* Have excellent attention to detail – in administration, drawing, and the detail of designs.
* Be keen to get involved in Passivhaus modelling and specification of low impact materials.
* Be keen to support and deliver practice administration and development.
* Have excellent time management and organization including project programming and resource management.
* Be inquisitive, collaborative, and enjoy exploring ideas to find solutions to design challenges.
* Enjoy ongoing learning – formally or informally – as part of your career development within the practice.
* Be fluent in spoken and written English.
* Be fluent in AutoCAD Lt and Microsoft Office.
Enjoy working as an integral part of our team.
* Your knowledge of Sketch-up and/or 3D rendering and/or DesignPH & PHPP would be a benefit, although training will be provided if necessary.
* Experience in small practice is particularly welcomed.
* Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and have a UK driving licence.
* We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds.
Please email us at hellodundee@kirstymaguire.com with the following and put ‘Project Architect Application/ Architectural Designer Application’ in the subject line as appropriate. Applications will be reviewed weekly:
* A letter stating what you can offer and why you would be a good fit to join our team.
* PDF portfolio with examples of your work including design and technical details (max 5MB).
* Your CV.
* Your experience working in eco and low energy design including passivhaus work.
