Youth Craft Modern Apprentice (Various Posts)
Apprentice rates are based on a percentage of the mid-point of the qualified tradesperson scale on completion of each stage of the apprenticeship:
1. 1st year: 50% or living wage, whichever is highest.
2. 2nd year: 70%
3. 3rd year: 80%
4. 4th year: 85%
Renfrewshire Council is seeking to recruit the following apprentices: joiner (1), plumber (2), electrician (2), and plasterer (1) for our successful Modern Apprenticeship Programme.
Successful applicants will be based at our Underwood Road Depot and will work across all Renfrewshire Council's property estate, including housing stock, schools, care homes, and offices. You will also attend college to work towards the achievement of the relevant Scottish Vocational Qualification for the respective trade.
It is essential that you possess a minimum of 3 National 4 qualifications at grade 4 or above (or equivalent). These can be any 3 subjects including English, Math, Craft and Design, Graphic Communication, or other Technical subjects.
It is also essential that you have a genuine interest in the construction industry and are able to carry out all tasks relevant to the modern apprenticeship. This includes being an effective team member who can also work independently, showing initiative, and having effective interpersonal, communication, and numeracy skills.
It is essential that electrical apprentices have passed the SECTT entry test prior to commencement.
Applicants must be residents of Renfrewshire and aged between 16 and 19 years at the start of the apprenticeship.

It is desirable to have an NPA in Construction, Plumbing, or Electrical Installation and Maintenance, experience of working in a similar environment, and knowledge of the appropriate trade tools. It is also desirable to have suitable IT skills, knowledge of Renfrewshire Council, and a full current driving license.
Requirements
Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Successful applicants will secure a 4-year fixed-term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship with positive opportunities for permanent employment with Renfrewshire Council.
