As a Chef at Taurus you will produce creative and innovative food in a fast-paced café environment. You will be financially aware and able to manage a budget with an outgoing and enthusiastic manner with the ability to liaise and interact with customers and colleagues and work with and support a mixed ability team.

This role will be based at Taurus Crafts in Lydney.
Duties & Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
* To work with a team of chefs with varying abilities and interests.
* To input into managing a rota system for the kitchen team.
* To ensure the highest quality of food production and presentation is maintained from yourself and your team at all times.
* The ability to understand and produce exemplar compliance documents with a strong emphasis on ‘Safer Food Better Business’.
* To be a part of creating seasonal, appealing and profitable menus as required.
* To follow food health, safety and hygiene guidelines at all times.
* To communicate with front of house and line management for smooth running of the kitchen, allowing for the best customer experience at all times.
* To facilitate additional food outlets onsite and for external events where required to do so.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Good standard of education (GCSE Maths and English).
* Computer literacy.
* Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery.
Desirable
* Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery.
* Allergen Awareness.
* First Aid at Work.
* Food Safety and Hygiene.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* At least 2 years’ experience working within a busy kitchen environment.
* Ability to demonstrate proficient preparation and cooking skills.
Desirable
* Safer Food Better Business and compliance experience.
* Knowledge and respect of quality, locally sourced produce.
* Ability to contribute towards the required gross profit margins.
* Event catering.
Personal Attributes
* Physically fit: some of the work will require lifting and moving of stock as well as managing endurance capabilities during busy periods.
* High standard of personal hygiene.
* Well organised.
* Administration skills commensurate with the role.
* Ability to work in a pressurised environment whilst maintaining a calm, happy, constructive working atmosphere in a customer service orientated team.
* Ability to be flexible towards additional shifts when events or functions are planned.
