PROGRAM PURPOSE:
The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is a national public health non-profit agency focused on improving the health of the public by strengthening state and national leadership and expertise for chronic disease prevention and control. NACDD promotes health and reduces the burden of chronic disease through various programs and initiatives in collaboration with the CDC.
SPECIFIC SERVICE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
NH Hunger Solutions (NHHS) is an Anti-Hunger Advocacy organization focusing on addressing the root causes of poverty and hunger through four priority areas:
1. Engage in policy advocacy to close the gap between those eligible for and those enrolled in federal nutrition programs.
2. Work with schools and communities to increase participation in School Meal Programs.
3. Increase public awareness of the causes of and solutions to hunger in New Hampshire.
4. Engage in coalition building among existing and emerging food access councils and coalitions.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Technical support: Assist schools and childcare programs in building upon their vision for equitable and sustainable school meals programs.
2. Communication: Communicate messaging and advocacy efforts on social media and local media about current efforts of NH Hunger Solutions.
3. Partner Engagement: Work with state and local partners to improve summer meals participation.
4. Administrative support: Provide support to the Child Nutrition Manager and other team members regarding child nutrition programs.
DESIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience with at least two years’ experience in related fields.
* Proven ability to work cooperatively and manage complex projects.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle for in-state travel.
PUBLIC HEALTH AMERICORPS ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:
* Be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of service.
* Have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
* Live within commutable distance of the Host Site.
