Pro Bono: This position is tailored to a professional who wants to give back special skills and has the right degree and professional experience for this position. We’ve had a transition from an engineering firm that left partial documentation. We're having issues with Argo, Kubernetes, and setting up CI/CD. We'd love to have you set up the dev ops environment so we can code and take action. If you want this to be long-term, we'd love to have that too! Responsibilities
1. Executing: Primary responsibility is coding in Java in MySQL and implementing Sprints.
2. Collaborate with front-end developers/senior management to deliver quality code.
3. Scoping, developing, and implementing new user features and new web components.
4. Increase operational efficiency & system visibility by developing tracking analysis.
5. Provide recommendations on coding standards and guidelines.
6. Track and communicate team progress/performance with the organization's leadership.
7. Update, improve and release new architecture & features for UniversalGiving.
Qualifications
1. BS/MS Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).
2. 5+ years of application development experience using JAVA, MySQL, React.
3. Must have experience in Kubernetes (K8s)/CI/CD/Gitops/AWS.
4. Familiarity with source controls such as SVN and CVS.
5. Knowledge of design patterns and object-oriented modeling (e.g. UML).
6. Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
7. Experience with designing/analysis/testing/implementation/maintenance/QA processes.
8. Strong debugging skills and principles: Familiarity with bug-tracking systems - Jira.
9. Experience in writing React.js unit test cases with JEST.
10. Experience in writing REST API integration test cases.
11. Good knowledge of Git, Gitlab/bitbucket/Github.
Part-time, flexible remote position. There is a second-side career where you could work 20-60 hours per month on features. Opportunity to work with a diverse, global team representing over 25 cultures. Gain experience with a Tech for Good nonprofit. With proven success & a positive attitude, UniversalGiving is likely to facilitate J1, OPT visas.
Duration and Location
The position is available 1 week with a possibility of transitioning to long-term. We provide remote positions with a highly globally focused team from more than 20 countries, including Russia, China, Japan, Ukraine, Georgia, the Philippines, Haiti, Germany, Canada, the Kurdish population, South Korea, the U.K., Brazil, Kenya, and many more.
