About us:
Household is one of the fastest growing Admiral products, having built up a base of 2 million customers in our first 12 years of trading. The Pricing department plays a key role in ensuring that we offer the right premiums to the right customers, ensuring that the business is sustainable whilst delivering value to our customers. We do this via a team of around 70 full-time employees - a mix of Pricing Analysts, Data Scientists and support functions – using innovative approaches.
A management position offers great opportunity to play an important part in the continued success of the business, whilst also offering opportunities to grow as an individual via great exposure to Senior Managers in Household, and the wider Admiral business.
Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Heads of Pricing in developing and delivering the strategic goals of the department, both in terms of commercial and customer outcomes, but also in terms of the department being a positive place to work where the Admiral cultural pillars are embedded.
Reporting Lines:
Generally to the Head of Pricing in an area, but potentially directly to the Head of Pricing Department in some instances.
Main Duties:
1. Managerial responsibility for Senior Pricing Analysts, Senior Data Scientists and their reports, coupled with inputting on the recruitment and structural plans for your area.
2. Constantly looking for new and better ways of performing key activities in the team, including the design of low-cost tests which can prove your ideas work.
3. Developing a high level of awareness of the business beyond Household Pricing, recognising opportunities of learning we should take from other areas.
4. Developing a great awareness of external factors which we should consider exploring (e.g. Market dynamics, Emerging data opportunities).
5. Accountability for complex projects which may require input from various members of your area and the wider business.
6. Deputising for the Head of Pricing in your area at any requested forums.
7. Gaining recognition as the go-to on a specific area or topic, and proactively sharing relevant information on such topics with a suitable audience.
Key Skills:
1. Detailed understanding of Household Pricing approaches and specifically how data/pricing calculations work.
2. Strong personal skills, including coaching and giving constructive feedback on complex pieces of work.
3. People management experience desirable.
4. Recognising that managers are sometimes privy to sensitive information which needs to be confidential or communicated as per guidelines.
5. Innovative mindset which recognises areas of potential improvement which are materially important enough to allocate resource to testing.
6. Communicating results and ideas to key decision-makers across different group companies, including Heads of Department and CEO/COO.
7. Develop strong relationships with colleagues, both within the department as well as the wider business, to ensure successful delivery of projects that involve cross-departmental cooperation and collaboration.
Hybrid Working
The successful candidate(s) will be expected to work within the Household Pricing guidelines, which currently means 1 day a week in our Cardiff HQ, ideally aligned with the rest of your team. A growing number of the department choose to spend more than 1 day per week in the office, which we encourage. Whilst this hybrid working policy is subject to change, we recognise the need for flexibility and are open to discussing alternative arrangements with individuals.
