Husky Technologies TM is currently seeking a Materials & Sustainability Specialist (Engineer) to join our Advanced Solutioning team. You will be working alongside experts focused on developing new technologies required to optimize injection molding systems, break out into new markets, and shape the future of sustainable high-volume manufacturing.
The Materials & Sustainability Specialist (Engineer) role will be instrumental in bringing forward solutions to support the greater adoption of recycled materials. This will require building technical knowledge on recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET) and its recycling, material preparation, injection molding, and blow molding processes for PET bottle and rigid packaging applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Keep Husky at the forefront of sustainability solutions, designs, and messaging.
* Forecast industry and market trends to help establish product and technology roadmaps.
* Identify and adapt evolutions in key technologies to maintain the competitive advantage of Husky products.
* End-to-end engineering from idea generation and prototype development through proof-of-concept validation, product development to eventual launch.
* Employ numerical analyses to better interpret and predict poorly understood physical phenomena.
* First principle research, including bibliographic searches and technology scouting.
* Assist Business Development teams, formulating business cases to justify the development of new markets.
* Work closely with a team of cross-functional domain experts in Product Development and Validation teams to integrate innovations and new technologies into practical solutions.
* Generate and present technical material, clearly and concisely to Executive teams and customers.
* Technical lead for projects, managing project timelines, resources, and budgets.
* In-depth technical research on new technologies, materials, processes, or landscape relating to the circular economy, recycled materials, environmental impact, and sustainable packaging.
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemical or Materials or Mechanical Engineering preferred, Master of Science preferred.
* 5-10+ years’ experience in polymer recycling, processing, and/or polymer science.
* Experience in PET application, processing and material preparation.
* Knowledge of PET recycling processes and technologies.
* Expertise in machine learning and data analysis (AI) a plus.
* Ability to break down complex problems into functional subsystems, identifying the key parameters that drive performance.
* Ability to use science and systematic methodologies as practical tools to find meaningful technical solutions.
* Background in hot runners, mold design and injection molding preferred but not required.
* Excellent communication skills in English (verbal, written, and presentation).
* Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
* Work well in a progressive team environment.
* Strong time and project management skills, and ability to delegate tasks and projects.
