The post holder will practice autonomously within the designated speciality area to provide patient centred care. The Advanced Clinical Neurophysiologist will be required to independently carry out highly specialist clinical neurophysiology investigations within an agreed scope of practice, centred around peripheral neurophysiology electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS).
They will work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, students and trainees, agencies, service users and their carers and families. The post holder will lead the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care for their area within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues working in accordance with trust policies, procedures and guidelines and will be responsible for completing any work-based training associated with the role.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide a highly specialised clinical technical service, including planning, performing and interpreting a range of basic and advanced highly complex neurophysiological investigations, with the main focus being able to deliver Nerve conduction studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG).
2. Prepare patients for routine electroencephalogram (EEG) recording in a dedicated environment, on wards and intensive care unit (ICUs), including head measurement and the application of electrodes.
3. Setup and download data from ambulatory EEG monitors. Monitor electrode function and record quality.
4. Independently perform NCS and EMG studies.
5. Record routine and sleep EEGs on a co-operative adult according to a prescribed protocol including annotation of the record as appropriate.
6. Perform EEG recordings on wards, high dependency units (HDUs) and ICUs.
7. Perform routine and highly complex evoked potentials (EPs).
8. The post holder will contribute to the development of service and quality improvement initiatives within a collaborative framework to enhance patient experience and outcome and ensure standards of care are monitored and maintained at the highest level.

Essential
* Professional Healthcare Registration with a UK Regulatory Body (AHCS).
* Master's level Qualification in specific speciality.
* Post Graduate Qualification in specific speciality i.e MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Neurophysiology), MSc Clinical Physiology.
* BSc Hons Clinical Physiology.
