Due to retirement, we are looking to recruit a dynamic, forward thinking, fully qualified Practice Nurse, with a proven history working in General Practice.
A full-time or part-time role would be considered for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
* Venepuncture and recording of vital signs
* Post operative wound care and leg ulcer management
* Routine injections and immunisations to include child vaccinations
* Contraceptive advice/pill checks
* Cervical Cytology
* Health promotion and guidance to patients
* Chronic disease management
Job responsibilities
* Responsible for attending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional; diagnosing and treating patients presenting with a variety of issues and advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs. These patients will be a combination of telephone triage calls and booked appointments. There is a requirement to see extra or emergency patients.
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs, which may include:
o Post operative wound care and leg ulcer management
o Removal of Sutures
o Urinalysis
o Chronic disease reviews for diabetic patients
o Chronic disease management in other areas (after relevant training)
o Peak Flow Readings
o Blood pressure measurements
o Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
o Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
o Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
o Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
o Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
o Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
o Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
o Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
o At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
o A duty to advise management of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
o Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
o On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
o Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.

* Registered Nurse.
Experience
* Experience of working in Primary Care/General Practice.
