Autism Anglia is a well-established independent charity. We have an exciting opportunity available for Team Leader on a full-time basis. Working from our Residential Services based in Peldon, Colchester. The successful Team Leader will assist people who are within the autistic spectrum, some with additional Learning Disabilities. Enabling them to maximize their potential and develop life skills across multiple activities. The Team Leader will work as part of a team to help those in your care to achieve their own life plans, through a person-centred approach. This role is well suited to someone with previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant, or Carer, caring for Autistic individuals, or those with Learning Disabilities in a healthcare setting.

The Role
1. As part of the management team, take day-to-day responsibility for running and ensuring delivery of a high-quality, safe and person-centred service which supports and empowers staff and the people we support.
2. Provide daily support, personal care and the development of individual skills for the people we support.
3. Promote the development of individuals we support by using a holistic approach which demonstrates an understanding of their personal, physical, emotional, spiritual and developmental needs.
4. Act as and be responsible for key worker roles to ensure that the needs of the people we support are met and engage in regular communication with the management team to ensure individual achievements and concerns are discussed.
5. Ensure Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults procedures are an integral part of the working practices of the establishment.
6. Act as a role model and encourage staff to demonstrate a proactive, enthusiastic and positive approach, ensuring they are aware of expectations regarding their performance and conduct.
7. Manage the receipt, storage and administration of medication and associated record keeping, undertaking reviews and audits to ensure safe administration.
Applications are welcome from Team Leaders who:
1. Hold or are working towards their Health in Social Care Level 3 Diploma.
2. Have previous experience working as a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Healthcare Assistant or Carer, preferably with Autism or Learning Disabilities.
3. Have previous experience in a supervisory role and leading a team.
4. Have the ability to manage emotionally and physically challenging situations and behaviours.
5. Can identify the needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals who may have communication needs.
6. Have experience in working with people with Autism and intensive behavioural support.
7. Possess a good range of communication skills.
8. It is highly desirable that you hold a full UK clean driving licence with at least two years of driving experience.
Peldon:
Autism Anglia’s Peldon location accommodates individuals within the autistic spectrum, some with additional Learning Disabilities as part of Autism Anglia’s Adult services. Enabling all individuals to participate in various physical activities such as walking, swimming, shopping, and general socialising in the wider community. This includes planning and attending person-centred annual holidays and days out.
Support workers at Peldon recognise the aspirations of, and work towards enabling, the people we support and help them to achieve their own life plans and develop life skills through person-centred planning. This will include being actively involved in empowering them to make individual choices about their everyday living.
