Axcis Education is cooperating with a highly regarded Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in the Teignbridge area, that caters to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This institution is known for its commitment to providing outstanding and tailored educational experiences to its students, helping them to enhance their skills, confidence, and love of learning through an array of specialized programs. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Outdoor Education Instructor to join our dedicated team. Key Responsibilities
1. Design and deliver engaging outdoor educational programs that meet the needs of students with ASD.
2. Create and manage a safe outdoor learning environment.
3. Assess and record student progress, adapting programs to cater to individual learning needs.
4. Foster a love of the natural world and encourage environmental awareness among students.
5. Work collaboratively with other teaching staff to integrate outdoor learning with classroom activities.
6. Liaise with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and development.
Requirements
1. Proven experience in outdoor education or a related field.
2. Experience working with individuals with ASD or within a school-based environment preferred.
3. Relevant qualifications in outdoor education, teaching, or special education needs.
4. A strong understanding of health and safety practices in an outdoor setting.
5. Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
6. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake this process).
The position is full-time, starting after Easter or as soon as possible. Working hours will be from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The rate of pay will be between £95 - £115 per day, depending on previous experience and school-based experience. This is likely to result in a permanent position for the successful applicant.
