Senior Community Infection Prevention Nurse (Integrated Role HB & LA's)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational Senior Community Infection Prevention Nurse to join a friendly, ambitious, and exciting Public Health Directorate. The successful applicant will be working in an integrated capacity between the Health Board and Local Authority. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who will provide leadership and clinical expert advice to develop, implement, and evaluate a defined organisation-wide Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programme and provide expert advice in all aspects of IP&C across the authority. You will support a preventative approach to IPC within the local population across a range of settings. We are seeking an individual with developed project management skills to lead learning and development initiatives and drive innovation. You will drive the service development activities, working with the Health Board's Immunisation & Health Protection Service, Infection Prevention team, Local Authority, and other stakeholders.
You will lead in the development of standards and audit to underpin best practice, evaluating new initiatives to improve IPC strategies, improving health and outcomes for our population's health and wellbeing.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will work to a level equivalent with the national job profile for senior infection prevention nurse. They will use their own initiative and be accountable for assessing and interpreting technical and relevant clinical information in order to implement the organisation's IP&C programme and provide complex/expert advice on the prevention and control of all infections.
Work with the Health Board's Immunisation & Health Protection Service, Infection Prevention team, Local Authority, and other stakeholders in developing the strategy in this specialist field.
Initiate, implement, and participate in education and training, risk management programmes, quality improvement methods, policy development, surveillance processes, and use of audit.
Manage conflict and challenge inappropriate practice through effective utilisation of professional knowledge and negotiating skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Registered Nurse 1st Level Degree or equivalent
* Specialist Qualification in Infection Prevention and Control to Master's Level or equivalent experience
* Teaching and Assessing Qualification
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Willing to attend Infection Prevention & Control study days/conferences/national events
* Master's degree or willing to work towards
Experience
* Experience at Band 6 within an IPC or similar service
* Working with a wide range of disciplines and grades of staff
* Significant experience of working with different specialties and in different settings.
* Experience of working at a Local Authority Level
* Root Cause analysis training or willing to undertake
* Procurement knowledge
* Specialist knowledge of oncology risks
* Welsh speaker (Level 1)
