Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Medical Device
The Farmington Hills, MI site was established in 2005. Our 50,000 square foot facility employs approximately 150 team members. Our site focuses primarily on plasma spray coating (HA, TPS) in the spine and large joint for orthopedic implants that enable a longer, active life. A BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Manager II, Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for leading a group of Engineers and Engineering Technicians who collectively are responsible for the correct, efficient, and cost-effective completion of all components of Process Design & Manufacturing Engineering for the site. They are also responsible for providing timely updates of site program progress to the site leadership team and are a key contributor to lean and continuous improvement projects at the site.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Lead Process Design and Manufacturing Engineering
o Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities.
o Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the organization.
o Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical support and information.
o Keep management informed of developments in the marketplace and among competitors. Identify, develop, and implement new products/capabilities that would enhance position in the marketplace.
* Lead Culture Development and Talent Management Processes and Results
o Align with site functional leadership on employee performance working on engineering and site transformation.
o Drive a performance culture by ensuring the right talent is in the right place at the right time to meet strategic and operational goals.
o Ensure the Performance Management Process exists for all site transformation employees.
o Drive an improvement culture by focusing on 'the process not the people' while demanding quick resolution and systematic corrective action implementation.
* Achieve Improvement Goals and Supports Financial and Operating Plan Goals
o Align VCP and annual operating productivity and investment goals to value stream.
o Ensure processes are in place to deliver site annual and strategic objectives.
o Implement a robust management operating system which highlights necessary adjustments to the cross-functional team.
* Develop and Maintain a Program Management Process
o Own the site transformation productivity funnel.
o Work with Operations Analysts to ensure data is available, monitored, and reported.
o Provide proactive program updates to key stakeholders.
* Support implementation of One Orchid Process
o Ensure required training is delivered to the site team.
o Work with communication experts, HR leaders, and Site Leaders to ensure goals and objectives of the site transformation program are communicated.
o Participate in global communication or site leadership town halls as required.
o Ensure team members have the required knowledge and skills prior to performing job duties independently.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor Engineering or related field (Required)
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
* 2+ Years of Experience in a Leadership Position in a Manufacturing Environment (Required)
* 5+ Years of Engineering Experience (Preferred)
* Experience with Orchid's Manufacturing Process (Preferred)
* Manufacturing Experience (Preferred)
