A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse with excellent leadership skills to join the Acute Medical Short Stay Ward (MSSW) as a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager.
As part of Acute Medicine, this is a 16 bedded inpatient unit that provides urgent care and assessment for a diverse range of acutely unwell medical patients.
Ideally, you will thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment and remain calm yet responsive to ever-changing clinical demands.
You will be expected to support the ward manager in many aspects of the leadership and management of MSSW and to take charge of the unit in the absence of the ward manager.
This is a full-time position with the expectation that you will rotate between day and night shifts, including some weekends.
We are a friendly, positive team that strives to provide a supportive and enjoyable working environment, actively encouraging learning, development, and progression.
Main Duties of the Job
MSSW is a fast-paced clinical environment that requires strong visible leadership.
We are looking for a motivated, forward-thinking individual who can assist in managing, leading, and supporting the Acute MSSW team and the wider Acute and Medical division.
The role requires someone who will contribute to a positive team culture, drive forward improvement, and support the team in delivering high standards of patient care.
A Deputy Ward Manager on MSSW will need at least 2 years of nursing experience, medical assessment nursing knowledge, and the ability to deliver a range of clinical skills to a high standard.
A significant part of the role will involve working as the MSSW coordinator and having knowledge about the acuity/demands of all aspects of the unit throughout the day.
To achieve this effectively, you will require a good understanding of patient flow and exhibit both problem-solving and excellent communication skills.
