Yewstock School is an Outstanding all age (3-19 years) Special School for pupils with a wide range of complex learning difficulties. We are seeking to appoint Teaching Assistants to join our friendly, enthusiastic and committed team. The successful applicants will be working with pupils with a variety of complex needs including SLD/PMLD and ASD. Experience in a similar role would be an advantage although full induction training is given. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special school. You must have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing. This role may involve personal/intimate care. We would also consider applications at XS10.5 level which is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 who has an interest in working with children with SEN, but has little or no experience of working in a classroom. Keeping Children Safe in Education The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
