Description The full-time starting salary is normally £52,996.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £57,602.00 per annum. Grade: USL Full Time, Permanent. We invite applications to join our integrated teaching and research teams at Birmingham City University’s College of the Built Environment at Senior Lecturer level. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in at least two of the following areas: Civil Engineering Degree Apprendice Geotechnical and Hydraulic Engineering Sustainability in Civil Engineering design You will lead the Civil Engineering Degree Apprendice schemes, be responsible for contributing to the design and development of high quality, up-to-date courses in Civil Engineering and related disciplines, assist in the supervision of student projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level while providing an excellent student experience. You will also conduct high quality research leading to publications in leading academic journals, develop bids and partnerships for research funding. You will have a PhD in Civil Engineering related topic or equivalent industrial experience (typically demonstrated by Chartered status), have significant experience in leading Degree Apprendice scheme, ideally in Civil Engineering and have high-level knowledge, skill, and expertise in Civil Engineering. You will have the ability to teach core civil engineering topics at undergraduate level and possess excellent presentation and teaching skills. Eligible for Chartered Engineer status with a Civil Engineering-related professional body, such as the ICE. For this role we will consider applicants both with an industry and a research background. Chartered status with an Civil Engineering-related professional body, such as the ICE, or EurIng equivalent, demonstrable experience in the use of appropriate national and international design standards for Structural and/or Geotechnical Engineering, with emphasis on the Eurocode, industry experience as a UK-based Civil Engineering consultant or contractor, and higher education teaching experience would be desirable.
