Here in Consett, we have a team of around 280 colleagues. We produce a range of chilled ready meals for some of the UK's leading retailers, including Co-op, Sainsbury's and Weight Watchers.
What you'll be doing
Maintaining quality by carrying out checks on production lines, checking weights at arranged times in accordance with customer specification, setting up and continuing to monitor line performance and that the check-weighing machine is set up correctly, completing required paperwork throughout the shift, reporting to senior op regularly.
Tasks will involve:
1. Carry out weight checks for each meal against the customer specification using a calibrated weight, ensuring any weights out of specification are rectified & recorded.
2. Routinely checking the size and visual appearance of the meals ensuring sauce temperatures are routinely monitored using thermometer readings and that any discrepancies from the specified standard are highlighted immediately.
3. Carry out checks on the check-weighing machine pre-start up and calibrating if required, ensuring all weighing machines are correctly set and all operators are informed of the product specification.
4. Setting the printers with the correct information to include the day code, product code and name, line number and batch, ensuring meals are coded after the heat-sealing function and countersigned by the relevant personnel.
5. Ensuring all traceability paperwork is correct and aligned with customer specification and requirements.
6. Complete and document daily toolbox checks, checking for cleanliness and damage at the beginning and end of each shift, highlighting any issues to senior operative, department management and/or technical.
7. Conform to all current food hygiene requirements and Health and Safety legislation, maintaining the highest quality standards. Follow good housekeeping and ensure all areas are always kept clean and tidy, be able to adjust to schedule changes on short notice and supporting business needs where required.
8. Following all factory procedures in place, reporting any discrepancies and/or issues to technical and/or management when/if they arise.
9. Other tasks may be required.
What we're looking for
Full training will be provided if successful in this role but are looking for the following knowledge and experience:
* Experience working within a food manufacturer preferred
* Attention to detail
* Good time management
* Excellent Literacy and Numeracy skills are required due to completion of traceability records
* Problem solving skills
* Good communicator and ability to work in a team
* Allergen awareness
* L2 Food Safety is preferred but not essential
