At Derbyshire County Council, we are ambitious for our varied and diverse communities, building on our success and continuing our journey as a modern and effective organisation. We strive for our children, young people and families to be safe, to have access to great educational opportunities, and to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. This Director role is pivotal in supporting the achievement of our goals for children and young people and our commitment to improving and transforming how we deliver services to meet the needs of our residents and communities.
Our education services are central to ensuring children and young people have the best opportunity to thrive in supportive, well run and safe settings that can meet the needs of every child. We need a leader who can work across organisational boundaries and structures, who will further develop our positive working relationship with schools, offering effective supportive services and continue to lead strategic change across the whole estate. We are proud of our delivery record; however, we are also clear on the issues that need addressing and we need a strong leader to progress the journey of transformation to improve our education services. We are developing an ambitious SEND and inclusion strategy that aims to support all children and young people across a wide range of needs in addition to a demonstrable special educational needs and disability impact plan. We have a large traded services function, therefore we need a Director who can operate commercially as well as strategically, but most importantly, bring a passion for best outcomes to ensure all children and young people are given the best life chances to grow and thrive.
This is a career enhancing opportunity for someone with the experience, drive, skills, ability and passion to make a difference.
