The Senior Social Worker will be a member of an Early Intervention Team and will provide a comprehensive service to clients referred to the Team who need assessment and short-term treatment/intervention.
The Senior Social Worker is accountable to the Director for Acute Mental Health Services for Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust / Director of Education & Social Care, London Borough of Bexley.
About the Role
A rare opportunity has arisen in the dynamic Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP), for a senior social worker and care coordinator. The Team enjoys manageable caseloads and a fully integrated multi-disciplinary approach. The Team is a small team, who are very supportive. There is ample training provided that is specially related to working with people who experience psychosis.
Based at the office in Erith with free parking and good transport links, the EIP team is a supportive whole borough team working with service users subsequent to their first episode of psychosis, embracing concepts of strengths-based practice and a systemic approach with evidence-based practice in order to enable recovery. As the Senior Social Worker, your enthusiasm, unique perspectives, knowledge of the Care Act, and professional skills will be highly respected within the service. Training and development is an integral offer within the service.
As a qualified AMHP you will also be a member of the centralised AMHP service for 5 days every 5 - 6 weeks, based at Emerton Close Bexleyheath nearby which ensures your practice is always supported by the highly experienced AMHP manager who will provide your professional supervision.

Candidate Profile
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) certification.
Strong knowledge and application of the Care Act and relevant legislation.
Enthusiasm, commitment to high-quality care, and a passion for enabling recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Work within the EIP team to deliver early intervention services for service users following their first episode of psychosis.
Use strengths-based and systemic approaches to enable service users' recovery and promote independence.
Assess, plan, and manage complex cases, providing high-quality, evidence-based support.
Conduct AMHP duties one week every 5-6 weeks, ensuring regular engagement with the AMHP service.
Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues, service users, and families to ensure person-centered, recovery-focused care.
Maintain a high standard of practice, staying informed about current best practices, especially under the Care Act, and contributing to a supportive team environment.
