Job Title: Infotainment Application Engineer (928)

Salary: £29.00 per hour
We are recruiting for an Infotainment Application Engineer to join a globally recognised automotive company based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role, with the potential for the contract to run for several years.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement infotainment systems for vehicles manufactured in Europe.
• Coordinate and develop vehicle-specific requirements with global teams in Japan and North America.
• Generate and release In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) configuration data for European vehicles.
• Manage Tier 1 suppliers to ensure product delivery meets quality, cost, and timing targets.
• Oversee validation of components (both in-house and supplier) in compliance with design standards.
• Collaborate with customer-oriented engineering teams to align global products with European customer requirements.
• Work with sales and marketing teams to ensure technical solutions support business goals, and with purchasing to assist with sourcing and cost reduction tasks.
• Ensure system components are properly packaged and connected to meet system design and regulatory standards.
• Provide regular status reports to management at all levels.
• Conduct design reviews at key project milestones.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with practical experience using problem-solving tools and techniques.
• Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team, demonstrating teamwork and collaboration.
• Customer-centric approach, using data and facts to inform decisions.
• Autonomous worker, taking responsibility and proactively addressing issues.
• Experience with automotive infotainment systems or similar ECUs (e.g., Meter/Cluster, Body Control Module).
• Background in automotive electrical/electronic development, or experience in related industries like aerospace or telecoms.
• Experience managing Tier 1 suppliers in the development of complex electronic products.
• Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively in cross-cultural and cross-functional environments.
• Knowledge of electrical theory and the operation of electronic devices.
• Experience with software and hardware development.
• Flexible regarding working practices and hours.
• Willingness to travel abroad for short periods (typically a few days to 2 weeks, occasionally longer).
• Competent in using PC applications such as MS Office.
Desirable Skills:
• Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Basic understanding of software development frameworks (e.g., Agile) and software quality assurance.
• Understanding of electronic mass production techniques and processes.
• Familiarity with CAD systems like IDEAS or NX.
• Experience with Manufacturing BOM management.
• Advanced skills in Office 365 tools, including Excel.
Nice to Have:
• Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Prince2).
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic architecture.
• Basic understanding of systems engineering.

• Monday to Friday
• 39 hours per week
