Lifting Operations Assessor
Location: Derby - Hybrid working
Permanent Position
Salary: £44,000-£47,000 + car allowance + benefits
Key Skills: Must have the NPORS qualification and a valid UK driving license
We have an excellent opportunity to join a leading main contractor. You will deliver training and assessments to all stakeholders. In a rapidly expanding business, you will be responsible for all aspects of Plant & Lifting Operations at various sites and venues across the UK, including Plant and Lifting Schools of Excellence. You will also play an active role in enhancing the skills, attitudes, and performance levels of maintenance staff, plant operators, and other support staff through competency assessment procedures.
What you'll be doing
As a Lifting Operations Assessor, your main accountabilities will be as follows:
* Develop training plans that comply with company, stakeholder, and legislative requirements.
* Create and deliver plant/lifting and safety training programs as per the training plan.
* Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Regularly review and update training resources and materials.
* Develop new plant/lifting and safety course packages, including resources and materials.
* Assess according to the business competency framework.
* Support plant operatives and related staff, encouraging continual development.
* Deliver all training and assessments following Health and Safety requirements.
* Maintain training areas and facilities according to site procedures.
* Keep own occupational competencies updated for training and assessment purposes.
* Conduct regular progress meetings with Line Manager and back-office teams.
* Perform spot checks to ensure operators adhere to Health and Safety standards.
* Plan and organize training/assessments for individuals and team members.
* Implement good practices concerning Education, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Child Protection, and GDPR policies.
* Assist and ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
* Collaborate with managers to provide the best training suited to their teams' needs.
* Ensure training competencies are maintained and developed.
* Keep all training records up to date.
* Provide necessary information to the Line Manager.
* Assist in delivering specific HSES training when required.
What are we looking for in our next Lifting Operations Assessor?
Essential
* NPORS Instructor/Examiner in Lifting categories
* SSSTS, SMSTS, or IOSH Managing Safely certification
* Level 3 (A1) Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods
* City and Guilds or equivalent Workplace Trainer skills (L Units)
* First Aid qualification
* Strong understanding of knowledge and performance criteria related to awarding bodies
* Experience working in a construction site environment
* Solid operational background in Lifting Operations
* Experience in developing and creating training packages
* Experience in creating Method Statements and Risk Assessments
* Proficient in using Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desirable:
* CPCS Tester Lifting Categories (Slinger Signaller, Crane/Lift Supervisor, Cranes, Appointed Person, Telescopic Handler)
* A varied range of Plant & Lifting Operations categories & inclusive operational experience
* IQA qualification
* Managing & Co-ordinating Plant
* Direct Training and Support NVQ Level 3
* Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety - NEBOSH or NVQ equivalent
* First Aid
