As a result, alongside several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK's first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced BIM Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar, Teesside.
As a BIM Manager, you will support the Digital Delivery Lead in the delivery of the project digital strategy, information execution plan, master information delivery plan, digital standards, methods, and procedures.
What you'll be doing
* The BIM Manager will educate people, develop/implement the Project execution plan, and use technology during stages 1 - 8 to develop models with data integrated into the design, construction, and facilities operation/maintenance, all in accordance with the Project Execution Plan.
* Utilise models to inform risk management in terms of both Commercial and Health & Safety risks.
* Review the Employers Information Requirements (EIRs) and advise the Work Winning/Delivery team of contract deliverables, Digital programme, Digital resources, and Supply Chain capabilities/requirements to be included within the Balfour Beatty tender.
* Engage early with all Stakeholders to develop the project's Digital Strategy, Digital Execution Plan, and Customer goals to match the EIRs.
* Work with the Project Team to deliver the Project Digital Strategy, Digital Execution Plan, and Customer's goals.
* Engage early with all Stakeholders via the Projects Common Data Environment.
* Before construction commences, mobilise and engage with the project team to implement people/processes/culture/technology which can be used during the construction phase and limit/mitigate potential conflicts before site execution gate stage.
* Work with the project team to use digital tools that promote CDM Regulation and Zero Harm compliance, e.g., the use of PAS 1192 part 6.
* Work with the project team and Supply Chain members for the use and development of the Project Information Model Geometrical and Non-Geometrical (3D Model).
* Work with the project team to implement processes/culture/technology so that the programme can be linked to the Detailed Design Model, i.e., 4D for construction and own/support.
* Work with the project team to implement processes/culture/technology so that costs can be linked to the Model, i.e., 5D for Construction and own/support.
* Work with the project team to implement processes/culture/technology so that an As Built model is created for Handover and Commissioning and own/support.
* Work with the project team to implement processes/culture/technology so that Asset Information/data can be linked to the model, producing a 6D Model for Handover and Commissioning and own/support.
* Work with the project team to implement processes/culture/technology for Digital Site Management Techniques/mobile technology to deliver progressive assurance procedures.
* Research, develop, implement, and review new ways of working which will benefit the project by increasing efficiency, reducing cost, improving quality, sustainability, and aiming for Zero Harm.
Who we're looking for
Technical Skills & Experience:
* Extensive industry experience in a similar role.
* Understanding Digital Level 2 Standards and Protocols, contracts, and documentation with an eye for detail.
* Develop models to identify Health & Safety risks in line with relevant standards.
* Understanding of COBie requirements as per relevant standards.
* Understanding of Security Management as per relevant standards and able to communicate with IT teams.
* Understanding of the Digital information manager role on projects to comply with relevant standards imposed by the Customer under BIM level 2 requirements.
* Writing Digital strategies and Digital execution plans (for bids and live projects).
* Ability to assess Supplier Partnership capabilities on BIM enabled projects and advise the procurement team.
* Understanding of Digital Surveying standards, methods, and procedures to integrate within the design, construction, and facilities operation/maintenance.
* Support the Project Team in the delivery of Geometrical (models/drawings) and Non-Geometrical (data) in line with the BEP.
The following qualities/experience are essential:
* Professional membership is desirable.
* BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng, HND/HDC or qualified by experience with an understanding and proven delivery of infrastructure or Building managing multiple processes/schemes.
* NVQ - Level 5 or 2-5 years of project/Educational experience.
* Can demonstrate Technical ability with the use of Digital Software applications.
* Demonstrate experience of training others.
