Position: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Medical Secretary based at University Hospital Ayr.
What you will do:
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Medical Secretary within the Cardiology service of University Hospital Ayr. Flexible and enthusiastic, you will provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service to the Consultants and their clinical team. Currently, the CD for Medicine is one of the Cardiologists, and there will therefore be additional admin tasks required to ensure the smooth running of the Cardiology Dept as well as all other medical specialties.
Primary duties will include audio transcription from digital dictation of all clinical correspondence, and the postholder will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the waiting list on Trak. There is a large volume of patient results which also require to be dealt with appropriately and timeously to ensure specific pathways are followed, as some patients require referral to the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow for further intervention/cardiac surgery.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
Experience within a Medical Secretarial environment is essential. Applicants should have a relevant secretarial qualification e.g. AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Secretaries, RSA or Scotvec qualification, or equivalent experience. A working knowledge of the patient management system (Trak) and knowledge of medical terminology is essential, including the ability to operate and maintain a computerized waiting list.
