We are pleased to advertise a position for a trainee dispenser to join our Dispensary Team at Wem and Prees Medical Practice.
Working either full or part-time at our Prees Practice, the successful candidate will receive full training to assist our busy but friendly team.
Your training will ensure you are able to provide quick, efficient and accurate dispensing of medication to the patients of Wem and Prees Medical Practice, and to assist the dispensary manager in ensuring effective financial control of the dispensary. This training will lead to a dispensing qualification.
Main duties of the job
This position requires high levels of attention to detail as the role includes being responsible for ensuring the correct medication is handed out to the correct patient whilst respecting patient confidentiality at all times.

We are a busy Practice that likes to enjoy our time at work. All staff apart from Dispensary work across our Wem and Prees site so you will have the opportunity to get to know the whole team.
With seven clinical Partners and three salaried GPs, we are a medium-sized Practice supporting over 12,000 patients across the two sites.
Job responsibilities
The role of a qualified dispenser consists of the following:
1. Start of day process including switching on computers and printers.
2. Open any required portals, emails, Docman, drug tariff, etc.
3. Record the fridge temperature on the computer and reset the thermometer.
4. Cashing up - must be completed daily.
5. Put away all the orders and check invoices for discrepancies. Claim if necessary.
6. Deal with any notes or queries in the task folder on Emis.
7. Check dispensary email and complete any mail.
8. Print the dispensing queue by mid-morning and put a note on the Duty DRs screen when they are placed on reception and are waiting to be signed.
9. Print the dispensing queue often, keeping the workflow going and allowing the stock to be ordered in.
10. Check any dispensed prescriptions.
11. Place dispensed prescriptions in the boxes on the shelves or owing shelf or delivery box.
12. Restock the bottles, boxes, labels, paper for printer, and bags when required.
13. On all part owing prescriptions, always keep the original script with the owing label. Write on the owing label the remaining quantity.
14. Endorse prescriptions when required while dispensing and checking.
15. Count prescriptions and quantity of items on the prescriptions, ensuring the correct figure is in the bottom left box.
16. Any drug returns need to be returned on the same day or as soon as possible (no later than three days). Filling in the correct documentation depending on the supplier.
17. Attend the counter when there is a patient or if asked to help with a queue.
18. CD requisition forms to be filled in when ordering a CD.
19. CD requisition to be photocopied once they have been signed.
20. Booking in CD stock, please write the supplier and invoice number. Before writing the quantity, please check the stock levels and then calculate the amount.
21. Once finished booking in the CDs, then please lock and remove the CD key.
22. Add all order details to relevant spreadsheets.
23. Checking expiry dates.

£12 to £12.26 an hour. The hourly rate is under review for this role.
