(PCSM) is a unique partnership between Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria to establish a new medical school in Carlisle. The School will offer a four-year graduate entry programme, with the first cohort of 58 students entering in August 2025.
We seek to appoint an exceptional individual as Head of the Education Hub, based in Carlisle, who shares our passion and commitment to designing an innovative education experience for graduate-entry medical students within an environment that promotes multi-professional learning.
The aim of the Education Hub is to advance medical education in Cumbria and beyond. You will be responsible for establishing the Hub, creating its roots in the community, planning its activities and ensuring its success. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the professional development of the faculty through engagement with the University of Cumbria, Imperial, our stakeholder health care providers, and other organisations across the region.
In the first three years, the Education Hub will develop opportunities to support faculty and stakeholders in their educational practice, including activities such as seminars and courses, plus provide access to opportunities to work collaboratively, teach, explore new approaches, research and evaluate the educational activities within PCSM, providing attractive additions to primary and secondary care job plans.
Initial objectives include: establishing a PCSM educational seminar series aimed at bringing together a community of practice; supporting induction for those joining PCSM; and career development opportunities. a point of contact for access to courses at Imperial and beyond, plus supporting the development of new courses where required, working with stakeholders to explore joint appointments.
1. An experienced, practising clinician on the GP/Specialist register with a recognised qualification in medical education or leadership.
2. Significant experience of working in medical education/training at either an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
3. Significant experience of working in Medicine in the Cumbria region, which a detailed understanding of the local healthcare challenges and opportunities.
4. Proven leadership skills, with the capability to establish and promote a new entity with a culture and values aligned with those of PCSM
