The Company:
Our client is a large Commercial Vehicle Rental Company with rental offices and commercial vehicle workshops based across the North and South West of the UK. They are one of the top players in their industry, demonstrating continued success and profitability, year on year. There is now an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their dynamic team; you will be solely responsible for the company's H&S across all six depots and will work directly alongside the Health and Safety Director. We are considering people for the role that live within 40 miles of either Leeds or Salford as you will use the closest site as your 'main' office.
Main Purpose of the Job:
To ensure that the company properly discharges all of its legal obligations and related duties under current Health and Safety legislation, taking responsibility for the development and management of robust H&S strategies, policies, processes and procedures and assisting line managers in their implementation.
Experience Required:
1. Working experience/knowledge of the Commercial Vehicle repair industry and its regulations would be a strong preference; however, someone from a H&S background in the general motor industry will definitely be considered as well. If you don't have experience within vehicle workshops, we cannot accept your application.
2. Preferably Diploma/Degree: NEBOSH/IOSH.
3. Comprehensive working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and practice.
4. Understanding of Risk Assessments & Method Statements whilst controlling SSOW.
5. Good communication skills and the ability to engage with the workforce and demonstrate to them the benefits of effective H&S policies and strategies within the workplace.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Identify H&S training needs across the organisation and deliver appropriate technical H&S training.
2. Advise on the introduction of safe operational procedures across the organisation which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
3. Periodically verify/audit the accuracy of the information and prepare reports of significant trends within the data.
4. Carry out and record regular audit inspections to check compliance with policies and procedures, proposing necessary changes to working practices.
5. Plan practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices.
6. Conduct RIDDOR accident investigations at each depot and produce management reports and recommendations, in addition to supporting managers with non-RIDDOR investigations.
7. Support line managers in the carrying out of risk assessments, identifying strategies on how risks may be reduced.

1. Working hours are contracted to 40 hours per week.
2. 25 days holiday per year plus statutory Bank Holidays.
