Prompting with personal care. She loves going out into the community so we would want a driver with business insurance, to take her on days out to her favourite places, i.e parks, playgrounds, trampolining, supermarkets, for meals out, shopping/retail parks etc. She has a lot of sensory needs so she loves messy play i.e playing with sand, playdough, painting, scooting, going out on her bike, drawing, bath bombs, swinging etc. These kind of activities keep her regulated and calm. She is used to using public transport (bus and train) so I would like this to continue with the successful applicant. The hours would be Saturday or Sunday (4 hours during term time) and a further 15 hours (19 in total), to suit both the employer and applicant during the school holidays. The weekly hours can be used flexibly ie 8 per fortnight. Preferably alternate days, probably no more than 4-5 hours a day,as holidays can be quite stressful for her if not in a consistent routine. For e.g Mon, Wed, Fri 10-3. Followed by a weekend for e.g Sat 10-2 etc flexibility once again. The successful applicant would help to support me with life skills such as teaching Sophie about road safety, stranger danger, personal care, preparing basic snacks and meals and learning about money. Sophie is 12 and already quite independent but needs a lot of supervision to keep her safe. We need a person who can remain calm in difficult situations and is patient and understands how autism can impact on a person. Confidentiality is of the upmost importance.
