Salary: This position is entirely voluntary and is therefore unpaid.
Ulster Wildlife has a number of reserves throughout Northern Ireland and there is a lot of work that needs to be done at all sites, particularly in Umbria, Limavady, and Maghera. All opportunities are outdoors and highly rewarding. Opportunities with Ulster Wildlife get booked up very quickly! There are usually between 10 and 15 volunteers in a group at one time. Some sites have access and toilet facilities, while others do not. Additional information on each area can be provided if interested.
Available Opportunities:
1. Balloo Wetland and Woodland, Bangor: Opportunities available every Friday – Meadow and Pond Maintenance as well as access support.
2. Ballynahone Bog, Maghera: Shrub clearance.
3. Bog Meadows, Belfast: Rush management, site clearance, and restoring reedbeds.
4. Straidkilly, Glens of Antrim: Glade maintenance and woodland ride maintenance.
5. Slievnacloy, Belfast Hills: Gorse management – opportunities available every Wednesday.
These opportunities are ideal for corporates or groups of individuals who wish to volunteer together.
