Role: Complex Needs Learning Support Assistant Location: Torquay Contract: Full time, temp to perm Working hours: 08:40 - 15:40, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only Salary: Starting at £90 per day Long-Term Teachers work closely with a brilliant special school in Torbay that are on the lookout for full time learning support assistants to start as soon as possible. The school looks after a range of special needs and disabilities which will often be complex needs. The school is well established, having operated at a very high level for a number of years and is well respected in the area. About the role: The role of a complex needs learning support assistant will be varied, so being adaptable is important. You must be used to a fast paced environment and challenging behaviours. You’ll be supported by the class teachers as well as other permanent TAs. You will support the classroom teacher in creating opportunities for the students and helping them to engage in their learning. Every student is unique and has their own way of learning, so it is vital that you are able to be creative and adapt to the needs of the students. Furthermore, you will be trained by nurses, therapists and senior members of staff to carry out any other day to day medical procedures and personal care requirements where appropriate. Therefore, whilst previous experience would be advantageous in this area, it is not essential as full training will be given.
