The Group aims to continue to be best in class for its customers and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders Reporting to the Group Finance Controller, the Assistant accountant will play a vital role in supporting the Finance department as the business continues its strong growth. Key duties and responsibilities include: KPI preparation and review Reporting and reviewing daily sales and margin figures within the business and understanding any unusual trends or anomalies or variance to budgets Reporting daily cash balances within the business, including commenting on any major movements or unexpected variances Reporting and reviewing any other relevant KPIs that assist in the day to day running of the business Monthly management accounts Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts Part of the team reconciling key balance sheet accounts including those relating to stock accounting, inter-company balances, supplier payments, customer receipts and expenses Working with colleagues in the business to understand any issues behind what the numbers are showing Payroll Extracting weekly clocking reports and submitting to managers for review Ensuring payroll reports are completed accurately, submitted to external payroll support on time and checked for accuracy before processing for payment VAT/Intrastat/Customs Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns under both HMRC and Revenue Ireland Completion of monthly Intrastat returns to HMRC/Revenue Assist with administrative requirements under the Windsor Framework Agreement Other Assisting with other needs with the team, for example sustainability reporting Covering other roles in the wider finance team during holidays Skills and qualifications required: A positive and engaging attitude, happy at work and supportive of colleagues Strong analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills Excellent organization and communication Skills and qualifications preferred Good computer literacy skills (there will be a significant element of work in Microsoft Excel) Part qualified CA or Qualified Accounts Technician with a view to becoming chartered preferable This role could suit a wide variety of people, perhaps someone starting out on their career, someone returning to work after a career break, or an experienced person qualified by experience.
