SEN PE Teacher
Location: Leyland, Nr Preston, Lancashire
Salary: M1 – M6 dependent on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Teaching Personnel have a fantastic opportunity to work with a SEN school based in Leyland. The school supports young people aged 9-16 who face various challenges associated with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The Role:
To deliver high-quality KS2 Teaching with Physical Education as a specialism in classes no bigger than 8 students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day-to-day running of the school.
2. To assess, record, and report pupils’ progress according to the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
3. To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
4. To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants including Professional Development Reviews.
5. To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, and any other relevant staff meetings.
6. To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of pupils, informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team, and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
2. We encourage applications from qualified teachers both from primary and secondary backgrounds.
3. Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
4. Knowledge, understanding, and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
5. Curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND.
6. Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
