Role Summary
The WIP (Work In Progress) Coordinator role supports the shop floor to achieve the production plan for the area, providing support regarding enablement and resource alignment and to coordinate the short-term production schedule. The WIP coordinator is responsible to ensure adherence to the production plan, giving visibility and raising the problems that may occur in the shop floor with the management team, helping to find solutions and avoiding impacts in the plan. In certain production areas their responsibility will extend to the preparation of a workstation in order to ensure relevant materials required to manufacture, e.g. consumables and bulk issue items, are in place and ready for use by the operators. The role reports to the Flow Leader for the respective production area and will closely collaborate with the production team, production control team and support functions.
Essential Responsibilities
* EHS - Promote a safe workplace environment without risk to health and minimising the impact to the environment. Ensure that all Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and that all accidents and incidents are reported.
* Clocking and Booking - Ensure that all required clockings (time and attendance) and bookings (job costings) are made in an accurate and timely manner.
* Housekeeping - Ensure that workstations are kept clean and maintained, with all tools and equipment stored correctly. Uphold a clear desk policy.
* Quality - Ensure that all Quality standards, processes and procedures are complied with. All work is completed with care and attention minimising wastage.
* Cost Management - Support cost reduction and management initiatives through reducing unnecessary expenditure.
* Knowledge & Skills - Keep knowledge and training up to date for necessary operations to the best of your knowledge and belief to achieve specification and acceptable standards for your role. For example, Approved Operator (AO) stamp(s) to be kept up to date.
* Team Working - Must actively participate in team meetings and be prepared to share knowledge, coach and mentor trainees when required, be willing to be trained in other areas.
* Any other reasonable duties that fall in line with the level of the role.
Role Specific
Will include but is not limited to:
* Understand the short-term production plan and related priorities.
* Understanding and updating the LOB (Line of Balance) and tactically managing the ensuing priorities.
* Update schedules and work-to boards daily / weekly (as appropriate for designated work centre).
* Update of daily and weekly reports, combining data from different reports and update the KPIs for the designated Work Centre.
* Drive the progress of critical WIP.
* Monitor and resolve WIP dwelling.
* Liaise with relevant function, e.g. stores, to ensure availability of kits and materials.
* Enable workstations with materials required for manufacture, where applicable.
* Complete regular WOBS (Work Order Booking System) audits.
o Reconciling physical and electronic WIP.
o Correcting WOBS locations as required.
* Interrogations of shopfloor systems, e.g. MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
o Review and assure that the right inputs are being loaded into the system for the plan execution, adjusting the variables if required.
* Work with Production and movement control team to facilitate part movement within area or between work centres, including expedite of associated paperwork.
* Ensure daily Standard Work Schedule is completed.
* Attend meetings to represent the area production team to share latest WIP progress or escalations and update status of starts and finishes into SQCDPE boards (as required).
This role includes physical activity. Therefore, you must be capable of undertaking activities with appropriate assistance, if required.
Requirements
* Good problem-solving skills & being able to perform effectively in pressurised situations.
* Basic IT knowledge.
* Basic Competence in MS Excel and willing to learn/develop to intermediate/advanced user.
* Able to engage and communicate at all levels within the business.
Desirable
* A motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Can work in a fast-paced environment and having experience of, or exposure to, a similar production environment would be beneficial.
* Experience or knowledge of MRP systems.
* Able to effectively influence within a matrix organisation.
Security Clearance
Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role.
