About the Role:
As an R&D Tax Assistant Manager, you will play a critical role in managing R&D tax relief claims, liaising with clients, and overseeing junior team members. You will be responsible for ensuring that claims are technically robust, compliant with tax regulations, and maximising value for clients.
This role is ideal for a tax professional with experience in R&D tax relief, looking to take the next step in their career with leadership responsibilities and direct client impact.
In this Role, You'll:
1. Manage a portfolio of R&D tax relief claims, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
2. Work closely with clients to assess eligibility for R&D tax relief and gather key technical information.
3. Review and refine technical reports, ensuring clarity and adherence to HMRC guidelines.
4. Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients, responding to queries and supporting claim submissions.
5. Support and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and reviewing work.
6. Stay up to date with changes in R&D tax legislation and advise clients accordingly.
7. Collaborate with other teams, including tax advisory and finance, to ensure seamless claim delivery.
We're Seeking Someone with Experience Including:
1. Proven experience in R&D tax relief claim preparation.
2. Strong knowledge of tax legislation related to R&D incentives.
3. Ability to review and assess technical reports for accuracy and compliance.
4. Strong client management and communication skills.
5. Organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Nice to haves:
1. Professional tax qualifications (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT) or equivalent experience.
2. Experience in HMRC enquiry support related to R&D tax relief claims.
3. Background in engineering, software development, or scientific industries.
4. Familiarity with corporate tax compliance and wider tax planning strategies.
