The Programme
We are excited to partner with schools to offer the successful Trainee Teaching Assistant an opportunity for high-quality training and paid, hands-on experience.
Following a successful interview and the completion of necessary suitability, safeguarding, and identity checks, we will help you secure a paid placement in a school to further develop your skills. You will also receive guidance in selecting a focus area, whether in primary, secondary, or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) settings.
This position involves working within a SEND environment, where you will engage with students who have ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, and PMLD. Schools in Sheffield are seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about caring for, understanding, and motivating SEN pupils to achieve their potential.
Before starting your placement, you will need to complete a comprehensive training program delivered by Vision for Education in collaboration with school leaders. This program will equip you with the essential skills required to excel as a Teaching Assistant. Throughout your journey, you will receive ongoing support from a dedicated consultant to guide you every step of the way.
The Role
The role of a Teaching Assistant is essential to the effective operation of schools. The most successful Teaching Assistants exhibit strong communication skills, enabling them to establish positive relationships with both pupils and staff swiftly and effectively.
Depending on the specific requirements of the role and the school context, you will work collaboratively with the class teacher to manage student behaviour, support targeted interventions, and provide additional assistance to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Additionally, you will assist the class teacher in documenting and reporting on student progress and behaviour, ensuring that all pupils are achieving meaningful progress in the classroom. Your contributions will be integral to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
