Our client is seeking a bright and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team and gain valuable experience on significant design and build projects in the North East. This person will be working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors on projects ranging up to £40 million, gaining exposure to all aspects of commercial management within the construction industry. This is an excellent opportunity to develop their skills and career within a leading main contractor. Responsibilities: Cost Control: Assist with the development and maintenance of cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for projects. Track and monitor project costs against budgets, identifying potential variations and cost overruns. Prepare cost reports and analysis to support project management and decision-making. Contract Administration: Assist with the administration of construction contracts, including JCT and NEC forms. Process and manage invoices, payments, and other financial transactions related to projects. Prepare and manage subcontract agreements. Procurement: Support the procurement process for materials, labor, and subcontracts. Assist with tendering, contract negotiations, and supplier selection. Measurement and Valuation: Prepare and analyse quantities for various construction works. Assist in the preparation of valuations and payment applications. Project Support: Attend project meetings and site visits to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements. Assist with the resolution of commercial issues and disputes. Provide general administrative support to the Quantity Surveying team. Key Requirements: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline would be preferred. A strong understanding of construction costs, contract administration, and procurement processes. Basic knowledge of JCT and NEC contract forms. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and relevant cost-estimating software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
