Kitchen/Refectory Assistant – Oaklea Convent, Sunderland

We have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen/Refectory Assistant to join our friendly team at Oaklea Convent, which is home to the Sisters of Mercy and managed by SJOG Hospitaller Services.
The successful candidate will be required to work:
• 5 hours on Tuesday each week from 8.30am to 1.30pm as a Kitchen Assistant plus 15 hours across the week which may include housekeeping and/or reception duties as required depending upon the needs of the service.
We pride ourselves on working in partnership with the Sisters to support them in the care of their elderly members and the management of their care homes. You will be required to carry out a range of duties as detailed in the job descriptions to support the smooth running of the service.
Do you have;
• An ability to demonstrate the core values of the charity and the Sisters of Mercy
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willing to attain)
• Experience of working in a busy kitchen
• Knowledge of Health and Safety
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook and good word processing skills
• Good communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent organisational skills
• Able to work as part of a team and using own initiative
• Ability to respond to guidance and direction
Ability to work flexible hours (including weekends)
