Educational Psychologist
Job description
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Enabling professionals to collaborate and thrive as psychological practitioners.
As an Educational Psychologist for Leicester City Council, you will play an integral role in a multi-disciplinary, diverse team that is friendly, supportive, and well-regarded. Professional development is nurtured, and time is protected for supervision, peer coaching, and planned CPD. There are well-established links with the EP training course at Nottingham University and other local authorities, and further development is always encouraged.
Leicester City is a unique and vibrant multi-cultural community with a strong culture of collaborative working within the service and across the local area. There is a genuine ethos of inclusion.
With a manageable caseload, you will have the autonomy to successfully invest time in personal interest projects. Development teams focus on EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion), emotion coaching, ELSA, EBSA strategy, and more. Working groups explore narrative approaches and power threat and meaning frameworks, arising from staff interest. The time allocation model ensures a broad-based psychology service, balancing statutory, early intervention, and training and development work. All City schools have protected time for school priority work, allowing for the development of creative delivery of psychology. EPs work in various areas, including the virtual school, international new arrivals, anti-bullying (Positive Peaceful Places), and designated specialist provisions in mainstream settings.
If you’re a qualified EP looking to make a real change and understand the true value of applied psychology in promoting positive outcomes for our most vulnerable children and families, we encourage you to get in touch. Full-time and part-time positions are available on a permanent basis. We welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified EPs, or EPs currently in training who are keen to explore new ways of working and fresh ideas.
EP salary is on Soulbury A Scale Points 2-7 - £44,474 - £54,609 + (up to) 3 additional points for SPA. The minimum starting point is 6 - £52,678.
Applicants must be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC or completing Doctoral level training in Applied Educational & Child Psychology.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
