Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Building Surveyor to work with one of our Local Authority clients in Surrey.
What the job will be doing
* Provide effective technical and professional guidance to maintain high standards and meet statutory requirements.
* As a member of the council's management, contribute to achieving the Council's corporate vision, behaviours, priorities, and the development of a positive high-performing culture.
* Responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanical and electrical plant, equipment, and services. Assist with managing projects from conception to completion within approved budgets and agreed timescales.
* Work in awkward/constrained positions.
* Develop or procure information systems.
* Day-to-day maintenance and management of service contracts, assisting the team in managing service contracts for planned, reactive, and maintenance associated with the council's building portfolio.
* Ensure all legislative requirements are met and recorded.
* Conduct condition surveys.
* Manage M&E works.
* Conduct fire risk assessments.
* Manage contracts and projects on behalf of internal clients, including preparation of client briefs, designs, specifications, contract documentation & supervision, tender documentation, procurement, evaluating bids, and issuing orders and contracts.
* Identify and manage suppliers, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects and contracts are delivered on time and within budget.
* Utilize CAD to carry out detailed surveys, prepare drawings for projects/schemes, update council property drawings & database, and assist the Projects Manager.
* Provide mechanical and electrical support, including electrical installation/testing, water safety, portable appliance testing, fire equipment and lift maintenance, energy & utilities management, CCTV & intruder alarms, and general engineering advice and support.
* Identify planning health and safety construction design and management requirements and ensure implementation.
* Monitor, advise, control, and ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements in the mechanical and electrical area.
* Carry out fire risk assessments.
* Control legionella and asbestos.
