Grid Operations Manager
Wiltshire Office - 2 days a week
Global Independent Power Provider and Energy Supplier
Up to £90,000 DOE + benefits
For the last 20 years, this global independent power provider and energy supplier has been on a simple mission: to provide renewable energy solutions to support the international drive towards the renewable energy transition. They have gone from strength to strength on this mission and are set to grow their team in one of the most interesting spaces!
Their work in the space has led them to having a strong pipeline. This includes 2.45GW of projects in operation stages, 3.1GW in operation or under construction, and an additional 6.4GW under asset management. Their technologies are varied, working across solar, onshore wind, battery energy storage, and hydro.
Operating as an IPP globally, they have also developed their value chain. They now offer a fully integrated business model, working across every stage in the project lifecycle. This begins in their development function, which allows them to develop and finance their own projects in their pipeline. They have dedicated teams working across every stage in this process, so they are able to have in-depth knowledge in-house. Projects then move into their own in-house construction teams, offering long-term partnerships with suppliers in the industry. Finally, they offer an operational function to the group, providing bespoke operation and maintenance solutions as well as energy sales.
Their ability to provide different services throughout the project lifecycle, alongside their varied technologies and global reach, means projects are always different, and there will be plenty of unique work! They also are able to gain revenue from multiple streams, providing stability.
They have fostered a culture valuing integrity and entrepreneurship. These values have been a core part of the group since they began life as a startup and have only developed through their life. They regularly hold team-building days to encourage these values and ensure that they are maintained.
The Role:
Given the nature of the group, this position will be a crucial part of the group, acting as a bridge between the pre-construction and operational functions.
Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Managing stakeholders throughout the development process - negotiating grid connection offers. You'll need to have strong connections within network operators and DNOs.
2. Communicating with EPC, IPCs, and iDNOs for construction processes.
3. Providing technical and grid designs for the delivery of projects.
4. Monitoring policy changes and new regulations surrounding operational phases of operations.
5. Reviewing technical designs and contracts surrounding ICP and EPC works.
You'll be working alongside an established development team, working closely with a development-focused grid manager as well as a settled operational team.
This is a great opportunity for somebody with practical experience and grid knowledge looking for a move into the other side of operations.
For this role, a practical role within a DNO or network operator would be highly commended.
