Waste Management Operative Location: Croydon University Hospital, Purley War Memorial Hospital, and other Trust locations £23,615 per annum Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and efficient Waste Management Operative to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection, segregation, and safe disposal of various waste types across the Trust, in line with the Trust’s waste policies and health and safety standards. You will play a crucial role in ensuring waste is managed properly across hospital wards and departments, contributing to a clean and safe environment for both staff and patients. Key Responsibilities: Waste Collection & Segregation: Collect a variety of waste types, including clinical, offensive, sharps, domestic, recyclable, confidential, WEEE, battery, toner, and food waste from various wards and departments, ensuring correct segregation. Waste Compound Management: Ensure waste is appropriately segregated within the waste compounds, maintaining an organized and hygienic environment. Commercial Waste Bin Maintenance: Move and clean commercial-sized waste bins, ensuring they are kept in a good, functional condition. Health & Safety: Report any health and safety concerns throughout the Trust, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines at all times. Communication: Maintain clear and constant communication with your Line Manager and other team members in the Estates department to ensure smooth operations. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all equipment used for waste management is maintained to the required standard. Routine Waste Collection: Carry out routine waste collection and disposal tasks to ensure all waste is safely managed and disposed of according to policies. Uniform & Hygiene Standards: Always wear the appropriate, clean uniform and comply with personal hygiene standards when on duty. Policy Adherence: Ensure that all Trust and departmental procedures, including waste management policies, are followed consistently. Person Specification: Essential Skills and Experience: Knowledge of waste management procedures and health and safety regulations, especially within a healthcare environment. Ability to follow policies and procedures for waste segregation and safe disposal. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. Ability to work independently, take responsibility, and complete tasks within designated time frames. A proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. Desirable Skills and Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare or similar waste management role. Understanding of relevant waste management regulations.
