Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and guest-focused Guest Experience Host to join our dynamic team at our busy Southampton hotel. Located near the cruise terminals, we welcome a high volume of guests, many of whom are embarking on or returning from their cruise holidays. In this hands-on and varied role, you will be the face of our hotel, ensuring that every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable experience from check-in to check-out. You will work across all departments as required, providing exceptional service and ensuring that every aspect of a guest’s stay exceeds expectations. Key Responsibilities: Guest Service & Experience • Provide a warm and professional welcome to all guests, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process. • Anticipate guest needs, offering personalised service and assisting with any requests or queries. • Be visible and approachable throughout the guest’s stay, ensuring any concerns are addressed promptly and effectively. • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service, from housekeeping to food and beverage, to deliver an outstanding guest experience. Luggage & Arrivals Management • Oversee the handling and storage of guest luggage in our luggage holding facility. • Assist guests with their luggage upon arrival and departure, including escorting them to their rooms if required. • Coordinate with reception and duty manager to manage high volumes of arrivals and departures efficiently, particularly during peak cruise times. Operational Support • Maintain a strong presence in the lobby and guest areas, proactively assisting with enquiries and offering recommendations. • Support the front office team during busy periods, including taking reservations, processing payments, and answering calls. • Work closely with the housekeeping and maintenance teams as required to ensure any guest concerns are quickly addressed so our rooms and facilities meet our high standards. What We are Looking For: • Previous experience in a customer-facing hospitality role is preferred. Passion for delivering exceptional guest service • A friendly, professional, and proactive approach to guest service. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle guest concerns with confidence. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. • A hands-on, can-do attitude with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. • The ability to lift and transport luggage safely and efficiently. Ability to work under pressure and juggle competing priorities in a busy, fast paced and challenging environment with minimum supervision Positive and flexible approach to work (weekend and evening work will be required) This role does involve heavy lifting and manual handling of guest luggage and other items as required.
