A bit about the role…
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work within the Commercial department. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will assist in the provision of quantity surveying services under the direction of the Commercial Team and train as a Quantity Surveyor.
With our rapid growth and continued development, we are looking to continue to grow our teams, for a variety of Social Housing projects across the North West.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven individual who is keen to learn and willing to be flexible to work within our small and experienced Commercial team.
This is a permanent role, based at our Head Office in Wigan, but you will need to travel to and work from Connolly sites across the North West of England.

What you will be responsible for…
Working as part of a team, as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work towards independently carrying out the following responsibilities:
1. Create systems & processes allowing effective measurement of commercial performance whilst complying with Connolly Ltd guidelines.
2. Prepare & agree target costs for individual projects including obtaining specialist supply chain quotations. Provide accurate, real-time monthly reports (Cost Value Reconciliations) which detail project commercial performance against agreed target costs.
3. Provide feedback on historic cost data and identify areas where improved efficiencies can be made.
4. Aspire to the highest possible standards of subcontract procurement and cost control.
5. Maintain relationships with key subcontractors.
6. Provide effective and timely support for dispute resolution.
7. Ensure that all external valuation receipts and subcontract payments are made in accordance with the conditions of the contract.
8. Monitor and report on commercial performance. Feedback areas of opportunity and threat to allow proactive management of any issues.
9. Ensure site management teams are fully informed of the contents of the CVR and other financial reports.
10. Adhere to stated company policies and procedures and carry out all duties in a way that is consistent with and which promotes Connolly Ltd values.
What you’ll bring to the team…
The ideal candidate will:
1. Hold a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying.
2. Have at least 1 year of experience in a related field.
3. Be commercially aware and technically competent.
4. Have a good standard of education with excellent numerical skills.
5. Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
6. Have excellent organizational skills.
7. Be used to working to strict deadlines.
8. Hold a full UK driving licence.
